On the 3rd July 1938 Steam Train Mallard set a new record as the world’s fastest steam locomotive of all time, reaching an amazing 126mph. To this day the record is unbeaten and to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Mallard’s achievements the National Railway Museum is hosting a series of commemorative events.

The ss Great Britain is a museum ship and former passenger steamship, advanced for her time. She was the longest passenger ship in the world from 1845 to 1854. She was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The ss Great Britain operated between Bristol and New York. She was the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic, which she did in 1845, in the time of 14 days.
